Defense seeks new trial in Millard Lee murder case
In Superior Court Judge John S. Candler is to hear a defense motion for a new trial tomorrow at 9. The attorneys Arnold and Arnold argue Lee is insane at the time of the killing of Miss Lilla Suttles and contend verdicts and judge’s charge were improper. If denied the case could go to the supreme court. The state, led by Solicitor Charley Hill, maintains the trial was fair. Also set for hearing is Henry King’s request for a new trial after his life sentence for the Pittsburg riot killing of Sheriff Battle, with City Councilman Warren and Claude C. Smith for King and Solicitor Hill for the state.
