Reconsideration Motion on Garnishment Bill Fails in Senate
A Senate session Friday sees Senator G Harrol push for reconsideration of the garnishment bill but fails 28 to 11 after the measure passed 32 to 8. Sweat argues the bill is too drastic and proposes a substitute raising exempt wages to 50 per month, while the current bill exempts 26 per month for workers like mechanics and laborers. The Panama Pacific exhibit for Georgia is urged, plus a new original jurisdiction procedure act. A call for a watermelon cutting at the capitol, a uniform board of roads and revenues bill, a new Georgia state seal, and an arbitration plan for strikes are noted, along with several local charter and court measures.
