Indications are Governor Staton will be asked to grant full pardon to Dr W J McNaughton who has spent nearly three years in the Chatham county jail after surrendering in Augusta. McNaughton was convicted in Swainsboro on murder charges for allegedly poisoning Fred Flanders with Mrs Marie Flanders as accomplice. The case has twice reached the Georgia Supreme Court with the death sentence upheld each time.
The Flanders murder indictment faces a nolle prosequi next week as Governor Brown awaits the outcome. Attorneys say McNaughton could seek commutation if the same evidence fails in Flanders, arguing public sentiment skewed the original trial and that trial should not have occurred in Emmanuel County during the Flanders case developments.

Homer Hamilton of Phoenix City Alabama aged about eighty was drowned at Hollands Creek near Columbus tonight around 10 o'clock while with friends. His body was recovered. He leaves a wife and one or two children and was a highly esteemed citizen.
