Senate and House Proceedings July 7 1908

Senate session opened with prayer and roll call and oath for unqualified senators. A series of resolutions and motions followed including a committee to investigate A A Bradley and adjournment actions. House organized with oath for new members, election of a chief clerk, and seating for reporters. Both chambers prepared to receive communications from the Governor as they awaited further business.

Door Keeper Election Reveals Radicals in City Hall

Described as a display of radical desperation in the House of Representatives, the ballot for door keeper pitted Jackson the so called manhood candidate against Lineberger and the Democrat Lineberger secured victory on the second vote. Costin’s withdrawal helped Lineberger, with cross support from Fos Omocrats, while the piece questions the strength and loyalty of the newly chosen official.
