Plans for civic center on Peachtree widened streets
The Fulton delegation will push a bill to give the state a 20 story office building and a joint terminal in exchange for the right to build a civic center over State Road tracks. A private corporation would erect and operate the project, with state ownership to follow after funding. The proposal, valued about 3 million dollars, was approved by the chamber of commerce and city council. Citizens push Peachtree street widening, seeking a 10 foot state donation across the governor’s mansion site to ease traffic near the governor’s residence.
