Several new items fill this week’s calendar of men’s attire. Washable crepe four-in-hands appear in mauve helios greens pink blue gray and white and measure 2 1/2 inches wide with easy laundering. Budd’s Cameo bats-wing ties follow collar lines for neat tieing priced 50c. White silk-finish four-in-hands retail at 25c offering varied widths and weights.
Special report from Athens dated June 30 describes a mob in Watkinsville seizing seven Black men and one white man, shooting them to death. It details mob organization, route, and the declared condemnation by local citizens, with investigations planned and public meetings announced.
The assembly and Dr Whitley backed a resolution denouncing the masked murderers who attacked inmates awaiting trial, calling for swift arrests and trials. Wright urged state action to wipe out the stain, with governors and officers urged to deploy forces and detectives to convict the rioters and uphold justice.
Gainesville resident William B King, longtime insurance agent, arrested in Homer Banks county on forgery charges based on notes tied to premium payments. State agent Dobbins investigated Forsyth county indictments and King’s prior forgeries. King allegedly used forged notes to defraud National Life Insurance. King held on arrest warrant, with hearing set in Forsyth Superior Court.
A deadly robbery at the Holbrook home near Wilkinsville shocks Oconee. Mr and Mrs Fo M Holbrook were found murdered after a break in as suspects Claud Elder and the Robinson brothers confess to involvement. Loot of $300 to $400 taken. Lon Aycock named as planner. Police pursue arrests as the case unfolds.
Norfolk and steamer service depart on July 2nd 3rd and 4th via Washington with Seaboard Office at 118 Peachtree Street offering round trip travel to Baltimore Maryland and return, dates listed in timetable.
Witnesses testified Aycock paid a man for involvement claims of guilt or innocence disputed. He allegedly showed twenty dollar bills from a roll and had a $12 Athens bill order that he could not cover after the killing. Aycock denied guilt, saying he stayed with relative Mr Giles and knew nothing of the crime.
A 13 year old white girl, Birtie Cox, was attacked near her Dolomite home as she returned from a furnace. A negro fled after being struck with a pistol and choked her. An immense crowd with bloodhounds hunted the fugitive all day, still at large by nightfall.
Seaboard Air Line Railway sells round trip tickets to Baltimore Maryland with itinerary via through service. Fare listed as 79 dollars and 70 cents with final limit and extension option until May 1905. Passenger details include Atties at 416 Peachtree Street.
