Boy Detective Threatened by Gambler Ring he Exposed

Eight year old Atlanta boy detective Leon Miller known for foiling a local craps game was warned of death by gamblers after he reported their activities to the police. Residing at 150 Courtland Avenue he gained notice for guiding officers to an old house on Auburn Avenue where the gambling crowd was found. His father T O Miller faces rising expenses as Leon’s fame grows from soda, movie, and theater outings. The boy, also a noted singer at the Grand Theater, is hailed as Atlanta’s boy wonder.

Outlaw Beardsley Seeks Liquor Card Deck Before Arrest

Mayville January 20 Edward Beardsley the Summerdale outlaw farmer said he would walk to Mayville jail to surrender for the shooting of Joan G W Putnam. Wife Begged for Death and Husband Slew Her

In Philadelphia on January 6, eighty year old William Ebberwein testified in criminal court that his invalid wife, aged fifteen years younger, pleaded for death and he killed her. He described tapping her with a board after she asked him to end her suffering, then waited for a voice to urge him on. The judge sentenced Ebberwein to murder in the second degree, with a minimum term of seven years and a maximum of fourteen, effectively a life sentence, while Ebberwein expressed a wish to go to the Soldiers' Home if released.
