Seaboard Indicted on Federal Charges in Georgia Case
A federal grand jury in Macon Georgia indicted Seaboard Air Line on thirteen counts alleging violations of interstate commerce law. The charges claim the railroad delivered coal from Oliver Springs and Briceville Tennessee to Helena Georgia for 136 per ton, undercutting the legal rate by 109. The scheme allegedly diverted shipments to Williams Georgia near Savannah and kept funds at Helena for redistribution to nearby points without delivering to the billed destination. The case marks a major fraud inquiry into rate manipulation and shipment practices.

United States Troops Seize Railroad Pier At Buffalo Harbor
A company of the Twenty-ninth Infantry moved from Fort Porter to the Delaware Lackawanna and Western coal trestle at Buffalo to seize a harbor pier claimed by the government. The land extends about 1,000 feet along the harbor and back 15 feet, valued at hundreds of thousands. The seizure follows a long dispute dating to 1826 with permits issued for temporary occupancy and a 1910 order against docking at the pier. The army says the railroad boats obstruct navigation and the next move rests with the railroad to avoid demolition.

Magid Indicted for Perjury Seeks Trial Tomorrow in Atlanta
Louis Magid, Atlanta capitalist, indicted for perjury, demanded a trial to be heard tomorrow by his attorneys Watkins and Latimer. The request was entered on the court minutes at the last session, gaining preference over other cases. The trial is separate from Magid's Saturday settlement with the Georgia Railway and Power Co. on dissolution of their merger. The settlement, described as very satisfactory to Magid and protecting his interests, lacks a disclosed cash amount but was stated to exceed the value of certain riverbank lands. Judge Newman of the U S district court dismissed the related suit on motion. Magid had claimed a conspiracy to injure him in trade and sought 2,181,000 damages under the Sherman Antitrust Act.
