Kosciusko Mississippi January 18 Jesse Evans hunting cattle near town was assassinated today shot to death by unknown party or parties. His horse riddled with buckshot. No one.
Chicago January 18 Special The outlook for Harry Hill's return to Atlanta is not promising yet. All signs point to release on a writ of habeas corpus. Lawyer Blackburn acts quickly wiring Governor Altgeld about any requisition. The governor replied by wire that no application had been received and objections should be filed in advance. Blackburn holds hope objections will be mailed tonight. Altgeld agreed to notify by wire if objections arrive before requisition is issued.
Tolleson acts to compel Hill to testify in a case involving his own bond of 6600 dollars and to forfeit it. Jim Dunnig aids Blackburn, while Hill has not answered a telegram from Blackburn. The Chicago lawyer remains cautiously optimistic as Harry, calm and well dressed, is noted among the shabby Cook County jail inmates.

He collected dues from members but did not turn over funds to the treasurer. Percival has strong ties to Covington Kentucky, where he came two years ago. He is said to have spent the money on drink and is not suspected of criminal intent.
