Senator Accused Of Land Grabbing
Washington January 14 That the Warren Livestock company headed by Senator Francis BE Warren of Wyoming was in 1906 maintaining unlawful inclosures of public lands in Wyoming and Colorado. A House committee report cites interior department records from 1906 07 but recommends no action. Letters between President Roosevelt Hitchcock and Interior officials appear along with Inspector Linnen’s 1906 charges over 46 460 acres Wyoming and 1 120 acres Colorado. Roosevelt criticized Linnen for newspaper clippings and reports. A 1907 Turdy inquiry found no proven public land enclosure by Warren’s company and urged no further action.
