Special Message on Conservation by the President
The president urges Congress to advance conservation across seven departments, focusing on reclaiming arid lands, forestry, land classification, water power, and inland waterways. He notes past land frauds, emphasizes public domain stewardship, and calls for new legislation to classify lands, separate mining rights, promote irrigation, and expand forest reserves while preventing monopolies. He also supports continued river and harbor improvements and funding to complete reclamation projects.
