Navy seeks 29 million for ships via House panel

Washington January 11 The house committee on naval affairs approved a naval program totaling 29 million dollars for the current session. The plan calls for two battleships of 26 000 tons at 19 million, five torpedo boat destroyers at 4 million, three colliers at 3 600 000, four submarines at 2 000 000, and one subsurface boat at 400 000. The committee favors two battleships instead of four and halved destroyer funding, while keeping colis and submarine boats mostly as proposed, adding the subsurface boat.
