Chamber to Oppose Freight Rate Change in South Atlantic Trade
The Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, with the South Atlantic Ports association, will oppose restoring discriminatory freight rates favoring New York. Secretary Charles E. Robertson says postwar efforts created a five port South Atlantic export system to Cuba and South America, routed via Atlanta. The chamber argues rate equality is vital to southeastern export growth and will contest the move before the Interstate Commerce Commission.
