Prohibition Ends Potts-Thompson Lease, Court Rules

In a ruling by Judge Bla Ellis the Potts Thompson Liquor Co was dismissed from a rent suit against J J Goodrum Tobacco Co over a Peach Tree corner store. The court found the lease illegal under the 1908 prohibition law for saloon use, voiding the agreement as a crime after January 1, 1908.

Death Takes E D L Mobley in Atlanta

E D L Mobley a well known citizen of Atlanta died last night at his residence after a week with pneumonia. He was 72 and had long been active in civic affairs. Funeral services will be held at Park Street Methodist Church with interment in Westview Cemetery. He is survived by his widow Miss Rowena Hale and several children and relatives including Mrs May Daviddie, Mrs Lizzie Hale, and Stuart Mobley. Mobley served in the Confederate Army and was connected with the Journal and other local papers before retirement.
