Referendum Suggested on Conscription Bill in Britain
London reports indicate attempts to sway resigned labor members of the government to reconsider their stance. Arthur Henderson and colleagues Brace and Robbests reportedly adhered to quitting the ministry, with discussions of possible referendum as an alternative to general election amid conscription disputes. The Chronicle suggests modifications to the bill may ease blockage, while some fear dissolution of parliament if committee obstruction persists. The idea of a referendum gains traction as a standalone test of popular will on conscription.
