Democrats Discuss Tariff Plan for Next Congress
Washington January 1 Representative Underwood and Senator Martin democratic leaders of the house and senate held a 12day conference over tariff revision and the legislative agenda for the short session reopening tomorrow. They did not settle action but reviewed Wilsons tariff views and outlined bills for a special session likely about March. The Ways and Means committee will study the presidents views and prepare bills as hearings begin next week with broad input from manufacturers and unions. The Archbald impeachment trial resumes Friday and money trust investigations plus other hearings will crowd the agenda before March 4 adjournment.
