Lively session at city council chambers as Ivey, a former stockade guard, testifies about two and a half hours. He details diary notes and convicts baths, whippings, and a female inmate, with cross fire between attorneys Felder and Arnold over testimony and conduct.
Figures from the state treasury show a cash deficit of about $400,000 as of January 1 1910. Alonzo Richardson of Alonzo Richardson & Co. estimates the shortfall after deductions for sinking funds and last year’s school payments leaves about $460000 in negative cash, with $554016.56 due to teachers and other funds outstanding.
In probable move, Charles Morse is prepared to begin a ten year prison sentence and is expected to be transported toward Atlanta Prison by rail today.
Chartes W Morse the convicted banker will likely be moved to the federal penitentiary in Atlanta before noon on New Years Day. No writ of error was filed by his counsel as the time expired this afternoon. Wartin W Littleton urged against further delay and Mer Morse's affairs are now in the hands of Campbell Carrington.

Atlanta banks reported 406,049,538.55 in clearings for 1909, the largest annual total on record. December alone reached 1,360,640.28, with clearings rising steadily since May after the cotton crop began moving. Officials note a new department in the clearing house affects year‑over‑year comparisons, and a full comparison will be released later.
Decatur Street will not have its name changed while Marietta Street is to be widened and paved from Peachtree Place to North Avenue. County officials will pave North Avenue to Ashby Street, and wood block paving contracts for Marietta Street from Peachtree to Spring Street and to Foundry Street have been let.
Georgia Railway and Electric Company carried 50 598 769 passengers last year, up 4 312 300 from 1908. The report shows 9 969 285 car miles and 1 003 614 car hours, with potential gross receipts near 92 529 988 at five cents per passenger. Atlanta population growth appears faster than estimates.
Richmond December 31. The Atlantic Ice and Coal Corporation of Richmond received a charter to begin business with maximum capital of eight million dollars and minimum of 360000. Promoters are Atlanta capitalists. Officers include Ernest Woodruff as president and W J Rushton and W E Chapin as vice presidents. J C Gentry serves as secretary treasurer. The company may open branches in all cities and states with preferred $300000 and common $500000 stock. Shares priced at 200 each. Franchise tax $900 plus $24 registration fee required.
In Minneapolis a Scotch collie named Jerry belonging to Mrs. W Sehafer was laid to rest in a velvet lined casket at Laymen's cemetery. A hearse with plumed black horses led the funeral, followed by a closed carriage with mourners Mr and Mrs Senator and their 17 year old son Harold. The casket was lowered into the grave and a filing monument was planned for the site.
Publisher B Noyes announces that Mir Helman Aohisha has acquired The Chicago Record-Herald and that the newspaper will come under his control starting tomorrow morning. The signed statement confirms the transfer of ownership and imminent change in management.
Judge Bell issued a temporary restraining order blocking Atlanta from extending its city limits under the 1909 charter amendment. South Atlanta citizens led by Judge Rodgers object to bond burdens and boundary changes while city leaders seek a quick modification to allow immediate territorial organization and avoid council disruption.
