Georgia political storm swells as Attorney General Thomas S Felder reportedly plans to announce a bid for the unexpired Bacon Senate seat. The move ignites a potential double fight with Rep Hardwick and Gov Slaton weighing races, while West fills Bacon’s Senate vacancy and Georgia braces for a heated primary season.

Mexico City February 2 Provisional President Huerta refused permission for the United States to send 2 000 American marines to guard the legation. Huerta said no need for such precautions and denied knowledge of the proposal to Mr O Braughnessy.
President Wilson stated that sending marines or armed forces into Mexico without the consent of the Mexican government would be an act of war and no request for such action has ever been made. He noted no policy decision had been taken and emphasized caution amid Mexican unrest and diplomatic precedent.
