Prompted actions avert major fire at auditorium last night
Cool heads by John Knight, Meritt, and others near the auditorium armory prevented a potentially serious fire during exercises. Knight spotted heat and a small flame behind a radiator, alarmed McGriff and bystanders, and a fire extinguisher from a wall bracket quickly doused the blaze.
