President elect Taft spoke at Carnegie Hall on Hampton Institute’s work under the Armstrong Association amid rain and a guarded crowd. He led a discussion with Booker T. Washington and Bishop Greer on negro education and industrial training as a path to race relations, stressing cooperation and the Hampton Institute’s role in solving the race question.
In a February decision Justice White of the U S Supreme Court upholds Arkansas anti trust law of 1905 aimed at price fixing by packers. In Nathelle Tennessee on February 28 Colonel Duncan B Cooper and Robin J Cooper with John D Sharp faced testimony in a case tied to the killing of Former Senator J W Carmack. The defense pressed, witnesses testified with Colonel Cooper appearing calm though moved by readings of the murder efforts. The state planned continued cross examination tomorrow as stenographers prepared a full record.
