Charred death in Cartersville fire claims marshal
In Cartersville Ga on February 23 Special reports the charred body of P. Sarterfield late marshal of Cartersville was found among the ruins of his home destroyed by fire. He perished while attempting to stay the blaze, leaving a wife and seven children. Mrs McConnell’s two story home housed boarders employed on the Louisville and Nashville extension. Fire began in the kitchen and spread to the dining room where Sarterfield entered to tackle the flames. Fire service could not reach the blaze and he likely suffocated behind a door before help arrived. He was about forty, a member of Odd Fellows and United Workmen. He had been marshal for several years before being superseded recently.

Advertising Your Product Through The Ladies Home Journal
The article argues that long term income can be accelerated by rapid trade expansion and a strong sales force aided by strategic advertising. A measured use of space in The Ladies Home Journal could place goods in dealer hands and then in consumer hands, boosting profits and production. The Curtis Publishing Company promotes advertising as building value and brand strength for products.
