New Reservoir Project Faces Uncertain Future in City

The city council failed to extend the option on land for a waterworks reservoir as aldermen questioned the contract terms. With the land purchase risk, the deal may be called off this year. Council had voted to extend the option sixty days, but the aldermanic board did not concur, except for Alderman Girardean. The board prefers buying up to sixty acres over time, while leaving debt for future councils to liquidate. In other news, John Wo Mack of Philadelphia purchased a $100,000 life policy, a rare feat alongside two other million-dollar policies issued to Georg Wooandertit and YH Beusey, with substantial premiums. The Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York issued these policies and reinsured them.
