Anderson, D. C., December 20. Wak ing Tuesday night with sharp pains in his stomach after eating heartily of oysters from the shell, Mayor J. H W. Godfrey consulted a physician with the result that an X-ray photograph showed a broken knife blade 244 inches long and half an inch wide in the mayor's intestines. The blade was broken off in the opening of the oysters and unconscious ly swallowed by the mayor while imbedded in an oyster. He is reported to be in no danger.
