Newark December 29. Agnes O Keefe domestic employed by families found dead in Hackensack meadows Harrison. She was struck on the head, then pulled from clothing and stood on her head in the water until death. Investigators pursue possible suspect and motive.
Eighteen year old Estella Twell, wife of George S Artecl, killed herself in Ellensburg after announcing she could not endure being left alone at night. The couple, married last August, lived in a suburb while the husband worked at the Pennsylvania Railroad yards. She shot herself, following pleas for him to quit work and seek other employment.
New Orleans reported the driest Sunday in years as enforcement of the Sunday closing law limited saloons to few open venues. Fewer than six saloons operated, serving only regular patrons by prior appointment and selling only nominal amounts of drinks.
In Wakefield Massachusetts Fred M Sullivan aged twenty five shot his sweetheart Mary E McFadden eighteen twice through the left shoulder and twice through the stomach before shooting himself in the head. McFadden is expected to die while Sullivan's wounds are not dangerous. This follows an earlier attack on August 20 when Sullivan shot McFadden in the leg and was fined. In Richmond Virginia a factory fire at Blackers Machine and Lumber Plant near Saunders Sons Company warehouses caused minor damage under ten thousand dollars as firefighters battled flames and falling walls amid live wires.
Cash dividends of 6 2 701 878 have been paid to Fall River cotton mill stockholders for 1907 on a capital of about 25 475 000, about 19.87 percent. A bond issue may add 25000 for drainage. Work starts on an electric fire alarm system. Remodeling jetty hall will cost 300000 making the building one of the citys finest. Broad street will be paved Washington to Jackson with Davis street opening westward. Waterworks will extend into Arcadia and a complete surface drainage system will be provided.
Charles H. Perry known as The Skeleton Man was found dead today in a hut on the city outskirts after a long life on the road with horses. Death reported as natural causes. He stood six feet one inch tall but weighed about eighty pounds.

In Noble company's well No 1, southwest of the proven field, oil began gushing yesterday after entering the new tract. Experts estimate production at least 6,900 barrels per day, with about 3,000 barrels per day initially flowing. The field is in Jennings Louisiana.
Edger Prados was killed by his brother Milton after a quarrel over chops being fried by their mother. Edger threw the chops through a window and Milton shot him claiming self defense. A knife with the blade open was found in Edger's hand.
MGR Kennedy rector of the American College was consecrated Titular bishop of Adrianapolia in Rome on December 20. He received thousands of congratulatory telegrams and various gifts including a gold pectoral cross from the pope, an Episcopal miter and crosier from the students, and a bishop ring from Archbishop Farley of New York.
Bishop Joseph W. Key of Sherman Texas preached at St Luke Methodist Church in Columbus Georgia and will officiate next Wednesday at the marriage of his granddaughter Miss Emmie Orrit Key to Mr Jonathan Ballockt Zaase of Dallas Texas.
New York dispatch reports Harry K Thaw will be called before a jury a second time to defend against murder charges in the Stanford White case. Mrs Evelyn Nesbitt Thaw and other family members plan to attend as defense plans reaffirm a legal insanity plea with expert testimony to bolster Thaws claim of regained mental fitness. The jury will be locked up during the trial. delays are ruled out.
Ernest Johnson, a Black burglar, tried to break into a residence on 3 Haat Hunter Street. He knocked Mrs Griffin unconscious, was captured by a boarder and held for police, then taken to the barracks as officers arrived. The incident interrupted a family retaking of the home and caused Mrs Griffin nervous distress. James Madison Halliston of Blakely, Ga. has filed for bankruptcy with substantial debts.
Georgia moves to end free transportation on railroads steamships and street railways starting January 1 1908 with the railroad commission enforcing the ban. The measure also affects police fire and other public employees and ends many courtesy passes with limited exceptions under interstate law. A second note describes Hobson's proposal for a weekly government journal to report on executive departments courts and Congress with a 878000 equipment budget and 275000 expenses.
