Prohibition Amendment Fails in the Lower House by 61 Votes

Washington December 2 special. The national prohibition amendment to the federal constitution failed in the House by 61 votes. 197 members voted for, 189 against. Georgians split eight for and three against with one absent. Leaders claim the result aligns with expectations and vow to continue the fight. The vote saw broad cross party turnout and no clear partisan lines.
