Mr Overbeck heads a magneto business, buying and setting up new and second hand units. Formerly with Henry Heckle Company of Anderson Indiana, he ran Atlanta operations as a service man for seven southern states. He now offers general magneto repairing.
The Electric Auto Service Station at 112 Auburn Avenue began business in Atlanta a year ago last April. They specialize in electric car repair and overhaul work. Equipped with mercury arc rectifiers, they service storage batteries and perform overhaul work by expert mechanics.
T. L. Swords Vulcanizing at Ivy Street advertises 17 years in tires with W. E. Jones as head mechanic and phone Tyy 6990. The Piedmont Wallpaper Company moved to 48 Auburn Avenue under E. H. Elrod new owner, offering artistic Christmas decorations and Ivy 1047. L. D. Merritt opened an auto repair shop at 114 and 116 Auburn Avenue with W. S. McKinney, a Valle expert, after previous work with Hussey & Steste and Premier/Velle cars. repairs touted as unmatched.
A Nash Barber Shop at 41 Ivy Street and Edgewood Avenue unit advertise steady growth since starting in Atlanta. The Motor Parts Supply Company at 275 Marietta Street plans a name change on the first of the year to The Auto Gear and Parts Company and may relocate. They specialize in wear parts for transmissions and differentials for over a hundred car makes and stock axle shafts. With rapid growth, they have opened branches in Boston, New York, and Chicago.
Miller's Book Store on Mariette street will relocate on January 1 to No 4 North Broad street. The long established shop has operated at the same address under the same management for about thirty years, with Mr. John Miller Ran best at the head of the business.
Rybart and Hollingsworth operate a four year old printing business in the annex of the Sthodes building on Marlette street with Thomas T. Rybert in charge and bright prospects ahead. West End Roofing Co led by manager A T Girbin reports steady demand after three months in business at 25 Gordon street. Dixie Seed Co at 113 Whitehall Street, in business nearly two years, offers seeds and a pet stock line and hosts monthly pet stock shows, with W N Gallaher as general manager and W Finnecaf as co owner noting strong ongoing business.
Loftis Plumbing Co. at No 2 Cons street has operated in Atlanta for about a year under a thin name and priorly as Loftis and Boatenrelter for twelve years. W. S. Loftis, proprietor and general manager, reports strong business and bright prospects. The firm handles general plumbing work including the Georgia Tech power house and a handsome receipt for Mr. Harris at Gollegs Fark, a governor’s brother. They offer plumbing repairs as well.
Troy Laundry in Atlanta has operated for 33 years with Frank Beck as president and George Ech as secretary and treasurer. The plant sits at 200-12 Houston Street and the uptown office is 38 North Forsyth Street. They handle work for the Georgia Terrace Kimball House Majestic Hotel and other leading Atlanta establishments, specializing in rough dry family wash.
The Atlantic Electric Machine Co reports eight years in Atlanta with A J Redwine as president and general manager and J C Oliver as secretary and treasurer. They offer rotors and generators, out of town work, local contracts, and a Saline line of other electric machinery, with bright prospects for the coming year. The Russell Electric Co at 54 North Broad Street, eight years in Atlanta, lists Gadsden Russell as president, H C Russell as secretary, and Jos W Little heading contracts. they recently wired the Cola-Cola building in Baltimore, a large 750000 square foot industrial project, and are wiring the Atlanta Warehouse Co, Murphey Street and Glenn Avenue, with cotton storage capacity noted. Mr G E Watts of the Canier Building has ten years in Atlanta, born in England, previously in St. Louis, with yearly contracts around 30900 to the Georgia Railway, focusing on street and steam railway work.
Specialty Manufacturers and E A Bostrom Manufacturing Co of 230 ond avenue have operated in Atlanta for nearly three years. KE A Bostrom, proprietor, organized the company and developed a leveling instrument by Rowbrots that drew strong interest. The Miniinter Wane Grae brand is noted as a new sole product line amid repairs and local activity.
The Century Printing Co and Bean & Magill printers plus magnolia stove and range co operatives report steady growth in Atlanta. Magnolia handles Magnolia stoves and ranges while The Wolcott Remedies Co promotes tuberculosis related cures. Shannon Refrigerator supplies serves butcher shops and restaurants. Williams Printing in Pryor Street notes strong color work. Nabors & Co markets Selden and Republic trucks with solid future prospects.
The David C Cook Publishing Co at Austell building offers club mail subscriptions for 30 cents a month to Mothers Magazine and many others including The De_Wueater Everybody's Peoples Home Journal and Howse Beautiful. They advertise multiple magazine bundles and will mail a booklet of offers on request. Manager Mr. M. Welas reports good business and bright prospects for 1916.
The Walker Roofing Co, with a Marietta Street address, has operated in Atlanta for seven to eight years. The firm, led by Charles A. Walker, specializes in tin slate tar and gravel roofing and all sheet metal work. Their projects include the Georgian Terrace and Davison-Paxon depots among others, and they attribute success to reliable work ethic and quality.
Adamson Printing Company and Adamson Painting Company now operate from a Whitehall street site in Atlanta after about three months at a different address. J. M. Adamson, proprietor, has resided in Atlanta twenty years and built local ties. The firm offers general printing, rubber stamps, and large scale work with optimistic prospects for the year ahead.
Southern Cycle and Supply Co located at 2 North Pryor Street has operated about two years. Officers: W Thoman president and general manager, F I McWnorter secretary and treasurer. They carry the largest stock of bicycle parts in Atlanta including new and second hand bikes from National Crown Astoria Dayton and others. They also carry a full line of supplies and are equipped to handle all repair work. Business has been good and is expected to continue.
Cotton Staten Electric Co at 243 Au-1 Burn Avenue has operated about three years. J J Peters, proprietor and general manager, formerly with Electric Novelty Co Memphis Tenn, oversees work on major projects including Fourth National Bank building Atlanta Terminal station Piedmont hotel Hort building Produce Row. Business is good and prospects for next year look brighter.
Farked o acted an American Employment Agency with an office in the Healey building near Atlanta now operating about four months. They recently opened a Botfato New Mexico branch, placing C. A Cook in charge. The agency connects with Atlanta employers needing staff, calling on a broad class of business each week. H. MaNee, proprietor, reports strong activity and placements with many of Atlanta’s large firms and car dealers.
The Vesta Misetric & Supply at 207 Peachtree Street has operated in Atlanta since 1976 under The Vesta Accumulator Co. of Chicago, offering Vesta batteries, lamps, auto lighting, and repair services. Paisley Transfer and Storage Co. at 73 Peters Street, successor to Gibson, reports strong demand and full-capacity service in packing and moving furniture with a large storage plant. Fulton Sign Co. at Forsyth Street has operated about fifteen months, serving Jacoby Pharmacy, Tavlan Co, and Fray Theater with commercial sign work and optimistic prospects for next year.
The Union Publishing Co known as Art Print Shop at 219 Auburn Avenue reports strong prospects for the coming year. The Atlanta Box Factory at 157-788 Whitehall lists Louis Wellnooner as president Sidney D Seult as VP and Pat A Clement as secretary treasurer, highlighting forty years in Atlanta trade and recent large contracts with The Standard Voice Insurance Co and The Atlanta Mutual Insurance Co.
