Supreme Court upholds beer tax ruling in agency case
Decisions issued yesterday include a key ruling upholding a brewing company's right to run an agency in another county without paying the specific tax assessed for that privilege. The Whittl e re y vs Acme Brewing Company case affirmed the trial court and Muscogee County's lower rulings. The opinion clarifies that a brewer taxed where its principal office sits does not owe an additional county tax for distributing beer via agencies in other counties.
