Republicans Adopt New Basis For National Convention
Washington December 1 The Republican National Committee approved a reform plan to change representation in the 1906 national convention. Southern states would be reduced from 22 to 16 percent of the total delegates, with a call for a 1906 convention to nominate presidential electors. The plan shifts power away from the Deep South while preserving some Southern delegates. The vote was unanimous for adjourment.
