Thaw Seeks Speedy Trial in Murder Case in Supreme Court
Harry K Thaw represented by Clifford W Welgin appears before Justice Newburger at the New York State Supreme Court on December 8 1908 seeking an order to show why the indictment for the murder of Slat White should not be dismissed absent a commission to take evidence. Thaw claims delay since arrest has harmed health and increased anxiety over his wife and his health. Also included is a report on Comptroller Ridgely advocating a guaranteed credit currency with a reserve fund and a 24 5 percent tax to fund redemption agencies, opposing a high tax plan without a reserve. He envisions raising bank circulation limits to 12 billion dollars and giving treasury discretion to adjust limits to meet conditions.
