The remains of William Lawrence of Jonesboro Ga were to be sent home for interment after he was murdered at Eastman Garder and Co camp twelve miles west of Laurel. Officials including Dr Hare nt and R T McCormick are jailed as suspects. Autopsy results withheld but expected to be sensational. The trial was postponed until tomorrow with about sixty witnesses anticipated. The city remains tense as authorities pursue the case.
New York December 10 The annual meeting of the National Civic Federation’s industrial department opened a third day with a crowded hall. Secretary Easley reported 920 factory replies to a circular asking if a uniform voluntary hours reduction across industries is practical if employees abandon output restrictions. Frederick Driscoll and Samuel Gompers addressed the session, with J W Jenks noting legal versus moral standpoints of strikebreakers.
Robert Davis Jr., aged 17, was accidentally shot by Sam Lev while hunting near Greenville South Carolina. He died at 8 pm, four hours after the incident. He was the son of Robert Davis, head of the record room at Huguenot Mills.

New York December 10 special. Andrew Carnegie plans to give his only child Margaret the completed Fifth Avenue mansion at Ninety first Street as a Christmas gift. He will follow her into the house on Christmas morning, then transfer the property with its contents to her. The palace, four stories high with a Madison Avenue wing, sits on half a block with gardens, terraces and fountains.
In Oberlin Louisiana area, Mrs Sonia was lured to her door and shot, dying almost instantly as an armed mob hunts for the killer. No motive is known, and the crime has shocked Alexandria residents.

Beveridge presented the committee report as Nelson withdraws a substitute delaying a test vote while amendments are drafted. Jefferson or Oklahoma may be substituted. the delay allows further canvassing among Republicans favoring the omnibus measure.
DeKalb Texas December 10 four assailants tried to rob the local bank near the telephone exchange run by W L Dodd and his son Marvin Twenty. An armed robber forced a pistol to Marvin Dodd’s head and was shot by Marvin after a struggle. The bandit fell fatally wounded. Marvin Dodd was shot twice but survived with non fatal injuries. The other three robbers escaped.
Charles B. Peet founder of Rogers, Peet and Co in New York was found dead in his bed at his Plainfield New Jersey residence today from heart disease. He served as vice president of the United States Casualty Company of New York.
New York accepts a planned crackdown on gambling under District Attorney Jerome. The probe targets Canfield associates and notable figures including Reginald Vanderbilt and John W Gates with grand jury subpoenas to patrons of incriminated houses. Existing funds pave the post January prosecutions.
Eleven cars of a freight train burned through a trestle on the Central of Georgia railroad near Crawfish Springs, Chattanooga, with the cars and trestle destroyed by fire. The crew escaped unharmed. Loss listed at 22,060 dollars.
