Court Sustains Sentence in Levi Wilson Murder Case
Jackson Miss December 10 Special At its sitting yesterday afternoon the supreme court affirmed the case of Levi Wilson vs the state wherein the appellant was given a life sentence in the penitentiary for murder. Arete Wilson was convicted solely on circumstantial evidence and the supreme court held the chain of circumstances strong enough to warrant affirming the sentence. In the case of Gresham v Benton county the supreme court held that the compensation of a county registrar was wholly within the discretion of the board of supervisors and could be made as the board saw fit. Gresham was paid 80 for registering the voters of the county and thought he was entitled to more.
