Ground on Arbitration at Pan American Conference
In Mexico City December 6 officials expect the arbitration committee to present its report toward week’s end. A common ground is likely, recommending compulsory arbitration for pecuniary claims and voluntary arbitration for others, with adhesion to The Hague principles but reserving purely American issues. Debates covered Chile’s professional diploma issue, with US state and federal limits noted, and San Francisco’s Pacific Commercial Museum mentioned for a Pan American bank branch. Delegates urged greater punctuality and five sessions weekly to speed work, and plans to limit minor amendments to official committees. Governor Corral hosts the delegates tomorrow at Koch.
