Rural credits system proposed with central control
Chicago December 1 Robert D Kent a Passaic banker told the National conference on Marketing and Farm Credits of a rural credits system modeled on building and loan associations. Local associations would be supervised by a central national body with federal oversight akin to the comptroller of the currency. He argued private initiative would thrive, government operation not needed, and notes could be sold at moderate rates once the National Rural Credit Association gained public credibility.
