Senate Finance Delays Tariff and Tax Revisions
The Senate Finance Committee recesses until September 21 delaying hearings on the tax bill and tariff measure. The panel plans to modify the excess profits tax retroactively to January 1, 1921, while consideration of nuisance taxes moves ahead, delaying Congress until the December session. Senator Borah, an ardent disarmament advocate, is expected to speak on the treaty as the chamber tackles a heavy ten week agenda.
