John D. Park sues Seth Main for $100 over 14 loads of barnyard manure taken from Park’s Preston farm. Park, chief justice of Connecticut, argues the compost is personal property. Sunday morning reports say a daring burglary struck the Sewell Gibson & Co. store in Athens, with the safe rolled into the street and opened. Notes and papers worth about $15,000 were taken. only a few dollars in cash remained, while tools used to breach the aging Herring safe were left behind.
An express train on the Philadelphia and Atlantic City line left Philadelphia at three this morning and derailed at Pleasantville due to a loose switch. The baggage car overturned and four passenger cars wrecked. About thirty were injured, five or six seriously. No fatalities reported.
