Sculptor's Letter Prompts U D C Monument Plan
Gustav Borglum, chosen sculptor for a Stone Mountain Confederate monument, writes from Atlanta to Mrs Helen Plane outlining a direct-mountain carving approach. He argues for a colossal, permanent design integrated with the mountain, viewable from half to a mile away, and notes forthcoming methods, timing, and site logistics. The report will be presented in San Francisco, via Mrs Mary Lucy Young and John Francis McGuire. Also, Miss Mary Lucy Young and John Francis McGuire wed at St Anthony's church, West End, with a reception at the bride's home and plans to reside at 226 Oglethorpe Avenue after September 1.
