Atlanta Federation Backs Prohibition Stand and Urges Harris Action

The Atlanta Federation of Trades at its monthly meeting endorsed resolutions urging Governor Nat Harris not to include prohibition in his call for an extraordinary session. Delegates debated the measure before passing it by a large majority, with federation leaders stating they seek constructive Georgia legislation rather than further prohibition agitation. Louis P. Marquardt and other figures spoke on the stance, while prohibitionists rejected any compromise, insisting unqualified prohibition be part of the call. The group asserted the legislature must focus on broad state interests, not push broader liquor restrictions.
