Washington August 25 Special Secretary McAdoo chaired a two day conference with bankers mill men farmers and ware house men. Dublin Ga August 24 Special one thousand farmers delegates to the twelfth congressional district cotton conference met here and passed a resolution urging a government production tax of not less than 2 percent a pound on the 1915 crop to curb overproduction and stabilize prices. They endorsed loans and insurance and planned petitions to Congress. Delegates attend Macon conference Thursday. Cotton is selling for 8 cents a pound, risking a large loss to the cotton belt.
Marshfield reports four warships patrolling the sea near Cape Blanco including vessels thought to be the German cruiser Leipzig and the Japanese cruiser Idsumo. An English ship was seen at Coos Bay and Bandon, with another craft suspected to be a German cruiser. Coroner witnesses Joe Smith and all Lovely appeared later, giving Nichols construction camp addresses as the inquiry resumed Wednesday.
