Roosevelt campaign funding details emerge from Archbold testimony

William Archbold testifies before the Clapp committee about Standard Oil donations to the 1904 Republican campaign, naming a $100,000 gift to Bliss and a $26,000 to Senator Penrose. He recalls discussions with Bliss and Roosevelt, asserts board approval, and notes further talk of a $100,000 additional contribution that was not made.
