In Memoriam Sergeant Tonglon Lyle Homecoming
The article recalls the return of Sergeant Douglas Lyle, first to volunteer from College Park, who died July 18, 1918. A morning train carried twenty three flag covered caskets to the station where Chaplain Randolph led a simple service at Fort McPherson. Surrounded by his widow, father, mother, and brother, a large crowd paid last respects to a man who gave his all for the cause of right. Douglas Lyle is described as a hero returning home after a long, hopeful, prideful life cut short in service.
