William P. Hill, elderly attorney, faced a second apoplexy attack at 4 p.m. yesterday after recently recovering from an earlier stroke in June. He was near death's door and had planned to leave Atlanta to seek health improvements. This marks his third major attack this year.

New York authorities pursue grand larceny charges after 20,000 shares of Davis-Daly and Ohio Copper stock surface in the curb market. Broker M. M. Joyne pledged the stock as collateral for a $50,000 loan for F Augustus Heinze, while Donald L. Persch, a note broker, is charged as the principal. John Sherwood says Persch advised the loan and arranged the $100,000 mining stock collateral through Windsor Trust Company, with Sherwood retaining $10,008 and $84,000 to be allocated.
Mt Airy Ga August 10 Special 3 Cc Black Jr solicitor of Augusta city court asked Judge Speer for a modification of a temporary injunction targeting the J B White Company of New Jersey over trading stamps. The court ordered Black to show cause or issue an injunction with arrests postponed until a Monday hearing. Black seeks to bar use of trading stamps until the hearing.
In Marietta Georgia on August 10 Mrs William Nicks wife of a W and A railway fireman was attacked by a hidden assailant in her bedroom as she tried to put her baby to bed. The negro fled before capture and posse searches were launched with dogs to pursue the suspect. The incident follows another recent assault in the area causing local excitement.
To Hon. Thomas McDowell of the Ninth senatorial and Hon. Ashen McCurry of Hart county, in the house of representatives, their pictures above show they introduced no bills this session. Both are active, punctual, influential, and favor enforcing laws over adding statutes. Constituents of Senator McDowell view him as congressional timber. McCurry's Hart County ties grant him broad support, with the family habit of getting what it wants.
Milledgeville Georgia August 10 Special This city decorated with flags for the Junior Order of American Mechanics state convention in the old capital building delegates numbered 125. A banquet tonight and a day trip to the state sanitarium were planned with officers elected for the year including Councilor T D Ridley Dalton and J B Findley Atlanta as vice councilor. Resolutions praised J B Littleton for efforts on the compulsory education bill now before the state legislature.
In St Joseph Missouri on August 10 delegates to the International Typographical Union debated convention sites with Indianapolis Salt Lake City Minneapolis and Atlanta named as candidates. A motion to hold future conventions in Indianapolis failed as did a proposal for a $5 initiation fee. James H Anderson of Kansas City urged broader patronage, including nonmember bars, while printers aligned with the International Bartenders union. The Women's Auxiliary to the International Typographical Union met, with Mrs. Gilbert A Jones of Chicago seeking reinstatement for a revoked charter.
John B. Peyton a seventeen year veteran of the Atlanta police was dropped from the department last night by a board of police commissioners vote on charges of being intoxicated on duty the morning of August 3. Resignations of Ht Hulsey and G H Spratling were accepted. J L Vickery A A Ford and W U Hardy were elected to fill vacancies.

During the twenty four hours ended at noon today there were 41 new cholera cases and 2 deaths. In the preceding three days the city recorded 4 new cases and 27 deaths.
Montgomery August 10 five temperance measures pass house committee four prohibition bills by Ballard and Carmichael. One Tarrant bill targets gambling. Senate constitutional amendment for prohibition favored and a tax law amendment moves forward. Mobile reports a drier city under Carmichael act with near beer closures and illicit liquor discarded. no arrests yet.

Luther Pittman fourteen year old son of grocer C F Pittman narrowly escaped death when a rope noose he made while swinging from a tree at 525 East Fair street tightened around his neck. His mother watched, he collapsed unconscious, and Dr W E Quillian revived him after a brief struggle.
Bristol Tenn August 10 The Bristol Young Men's Christian Association directors ask President Henry Roberts to resign over his July local option vote supporting saloons. Roberts, a Bristol lawyer, had disclosed anti prohibition stance before election and will submit his resignation Wednesday after the wet victory prompted license applications from a local social club.
C C Downs and his wife Mrs Downs were involved when she fired at him at the Howard Safe and Vault Co on North Pryor Street. Recorder Broyles fined Mrs Downs $50.76. Mr Downs, charged with disorderly conduct, was dismissed and paid the fine. She offered little defense saying jealousy prompted her action.
