Washington August 7 Special It is now believed the hurried shipm ent of 310 000 000 in gold from the New York subtreasury to the Philadelphia mint for coinage signals another raid on the gold reserve. Rothschild Belmont bond syndicate has abandoned the treasury and it is again at the mercy of Wall Street gold gamblers. They can force another bond issue now as soon as they desire Officials realize the situation, and gold bullion reveals the trend. The sale of gold bonds has lifted the reserve to 107 571 229 on July 9 and then fluctuated. the latest figures show a jump aided by the bond syndicate. The bond group has paid for its bonds and is said to be ready to protect the government gold. Omaha August 7 The contempt case against the city council for disobeying Judge Hopewell telegraphic injunction in the police board trouble was decided this morning. Judge Hopewell found the council guilty but dismissed them as excusable under the circumstances. The injunction matter remains to be argued.
Dr George F Root, famed United States music composer and author of popular war songs, died yesterday afternoon at Bailey's Island off Portland Maine where he had gone last June to spend the summer. He was in perfect health on his trip.
