Confession of Faith by Roosevelt at Progressive Convention
Theodore Roosevelt delivered a long confession of faith at the national progressive convention in Chicago. He urged recall and constitutional amendments, worker ownership measures, and stronger government action to curb trusts while expanding popular control and social justice for wage earners, women, and the aged. He attacked both major parties as hollow and called for a broad, nonpartisan movement with a contract-like platform supported by the people.
