A Pair of Fine Oxen Arrested in Clarke County

Josiah Walker, a man described as a farmer in Clarke County near Athens, was arrested on suspicion of stealing two fine oxen. The oxen, yellow with white backs and large horns, were found at a stable and displayed ownership doubts from Walker who claimed they belonged to Will Montgomery or Wayne Manuroc of Athens. He stated the owners had gone north and that he would sell the oxen for more than fifteen dollars a head. The case proceeds as investigators seek the rightful owner and resolve the charge.
