Child Labor Bill Nears Law In Georgia Senate Action
A Senate commerce and labor committee favorably reported the Sheppard child labor bill to raise the consent age from ten to fourteen with a 3 to 1 vote. Debate featured supporters from Warren Boyd and William Wier against Cotton mill leaders and Columbus Manufacturing Co. officials. Other bills advanced or defeated covered court reporters pay, city court provisions, and burglary penalties while age of consent remained unchanged. The House judiciary committee also moved bills on consolidating elections to November and extending terms, and on hotel inspections. The Emanuel county city court issue sparked debate but no war, as supporters pressed for a public vote.

Phrase from a playful exchange in a historical paper
A fragment shows a humorous back-and-forth with quoted lines about affection and parental denial. It reads like a lighthearted conversational snippet, possibly from a social column or interview remark, capturing tone rather than a full event.
