Special Orders to Be Trimmed as Legislation Moves
Conference Committee to be appointed on the Anti Lobbying Bill and General Appropriation Bill. House Rules will recommend ending special orders for the session, with calendar bills advancing in order of introduction. Only ten days remain until adjournment on August 12, and no general bill has become law this year. The House meets at 10 oclock today and will act promptly, with one special order granted for Fraser's Liberty game and fish bill. The general appropriation bill for state institutions takes precedence, and a conference committee will be named on the anti lobby bill this week. The tax act and a proposed $200 per place near beer tax are to be discussed, potentially raising revenue, while the session contemplates amendments and potential conflicts between the Holder bill and others.

Texas shifts away from radicalism in state primary
San Antonio August 2 Special Returns from the July 25 democratic state primary reveal Texas moving toward conservatism. The anti Campbell revolt, his radical platform, and a strong insurgent challenge illustrate a potential shift. Republicans plan bold independent moves, with talk of Taft campaigning in Texas as efforts to peel away Democratic and black support grow. The result suggests a future legislature less radical, possibly repealing existing radical laws.
