Gotham Murders Shock City Graveyard Victim Found

A grisly string of murders in Gotham centers on a foreign district near First Avenue. An eight year old girl named Katie Pritchler was found dead in an areaway near her home after being brutally mutilated. Coroner Harburger refused to allow a formal photograph of the body. Police arrested Gaetano Rippolano, a cobbler, who days earlier was tied to the girl’s absence and found a bloodstained shirt in his shop. Crowd turmoil followed the discovery with shops smashed and police reserves deployed. A Russian watchman Jenn Kysmicho is jailed on suspicion. Denver reports a separate incident of Peter Magafllin slashing dresses of dozens of women.

Chaplain Jones 18 On Trial For Scandalous Conduct

Captain Harry W. Jones United States Navy chaplain stood before a special court martial in Norfolk Virginia charged with scandalous conduct and falsehood related to issuing worthless checks. He pleaded not guilty through counsel and requested a continuance but the motion was denied. The trial promises to be lengthy with many witnesses summoned. Greek positions in Kastoria Turkey came under heavy pressure as district troops killed about forty and captured others.

Williams Leads Vardaman In Mississippi Primary

Jackson Mississippi August 1 Indications favor John Sharpe Williams in the Democratic senatorial race over Governor James K Vardaman as returns from half the counties show a three to one Williams lead. Governor race shows Charles Scott ahead with a possible second primary. statewide tickets and local offices also contested. Weather was splendid and no disorder reported amid the climactic campaign.

Sewanee Hazers Injure McGhee in Greek Initiation Incident

Gordon McGhee of Montgomery Alabama returned home after severe injuries from hazers at the University of the South in Sewanee. He suffered a bruised chest and three teeth driven into his gums, nerves severed, during an initiation pranks incident. A Montgomery alumni chapter called for a rigid investigation to be raised with fraternity officers and the university trustees.

Justice Ernes t Gary of South Carolina delivers a state rights opinion in a damage suit against the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad for more than 2000 as to whether the company is a domestic or foreign entity. He rules that merger created a South Carolina corporation and that operating in the state makes it domesticated or trespassing if not. Two Students Die and Injured in Mine Explosion in Georgia
