Pneumatic tube service debate in Congress stirs New York to Atlanta ties

Senators and businessmen urge restoration and expansion, arguing the system expedites through mails and benefits all cities including New York, Boston, and Philadelphia while maintaining rural delivery progress. General Longstreet pension boost also garners support as a fair recognition of Mexican War service. Colonel Livingston is linked to a sensational Georgia-related incident with Adelaide Wilson, who offered favors for government posts and alarmed witnesses at Kalorama.
