Central and Fruit Growers President Egan on Ar rangements for Crop
Savannah Ga April 27 Special The attention of President John M Egan of the Central railroad was directed today to an editorial in The Atlanta Constitution arraigning the Georgia railroads for failing to aid peach growers and farmers. Egan explained arrangements with Fruit Growers Express Chicago to furnish refrigerating cars and icehouses. He said six miles of extra tracks are being laid at Fort Valley and nearby to speed fruit movement and that crate manufacturers are being listed for growers. Transportation and refrigeration rates are established, and he noted the need to provide a service equal to that of 1898 to keep growers satisfied. He emphasized constant updates on conditions and forthcoming crop needs.
