Miss Alma Gluck sang in Faust for SHS last night as Miss Geraldine Farrar could not take the part. Many visitors attended the final performances marking the close of the grand opera season.
A Wartburg season wrap praises two performances at 8:00 P M with star artists Caruso Slezak and many others. Tannhauser opens the day, followed by Rigoletto as the night show. Local attendance hopeful. conductor Alfred Hertz returns to Atlanta for the German repertoire.
G R Hutchens of Underwood headquarters argues Governor Wilson cannot carry his home state of New Jersey due to big corporate power. He endorses Underwood of Alabama for tariff reduction, claiming Wilson avoids the issue and would not support lower duties. Hutchens urges Georgians to elect Underwood to curb high taxation and defend the people.

Major J. D. Dunwody led as grand marshal and General A. J. West introduced Dr. Clarence J. Owens of Alabama as orator at Oakland Cemetery. Some 6 000 attendees observed a two mile procession amid veterans, Georgia troops, U S forces, and school groups, with taps, a prayer, and strains of Dizzie.
Walton, a former city detective, died after an argument in a meat market at Hunnicutt and Marietta streets. Witnesses say Walton reached for a pistol in a drawer, dropped it, and collapsed. two men nearby, Jenka and Hillyer Camp, disputed over language as Walton died. Walton, 86, was a longtime member of the city police department and had retired about six years earlier.

Dr Quellenstein, long serving German consul in Atlanta, has been promoted to minister plenipotentiary and extraordinary to Cuba. The Germany Foreign Office announced the appointment, with Havana as his new headquarters. He will depart Atlanta in about three weeks. successor yet unknown.
